Advertising your business

here are so many options in advertising when trying to Market your business. Online adds? Wedding blogs? Magazines? I just want to touch on what I've experienced when it comes to advertising.

My number one and most effective advertising tool has been word of mouth. Word of mouth is so powerful because your past clients have actually experienced YOU. The best thing they can do for you is be a walking billboard. Although word of mouth is amazing, you may want to extend your business to a greater audience which is online.
Online advertising is SO powerful these days. Everything is simply a click away. I used to think magazines were the way to go, but we've all become so computer obsessed that no-one wants to move to a computer and type in the photographers name to find their website. It's easier to click from a direct link and there you are at my website. I do think that being published in a magazine can be more prestigious. However, in my opinion, if you seek to reach a larger audience, wedding blogs is the way to go.

Here is why :
*A popular wedding blog reaches a HUGE number of brides looking for ideas.
*They can show more images which in turn shows off your work more.
*They link directly to your site
*Your feature will pop up in more search engines.

For example, we photographed a wedding that had an airplane theme and submitted this wedding to style me pretty. Since then, my analytics show many clicks from brides searching "airplane themed weddings." Anyway you can link a bride to directly to your website is great!

Another obvious advertising tool is Facebook. When shooting a wedding, you work with many different vendors. Those vendors most likely have a facebook page too. After I am finished blogging a wedding, I then link to my bride and groom as well as all the vendors on facebook, which in turn shows up to all their friends facebook pages too. It's one of the best marketing tools.

Here is a list of some of my favorite wedding blogs :
Wedding Chicks
Style Me Pretty
Southern Weddings
Elizabeth Anne Designs
Just to name a few...

Please remember, getting featured isn't always easy. There are many stylized weddings now being published that it is getting more competitive to have a wedding featured. If you are finding this to be an issue, consider planning a stylized mock shoot with the intention of submitting the shoot to your desired blog.

I want this post to be an open dialog so please let me know how you feel about advertising. I'd love to hear what HAS or HASN'T worked for you. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday!
Below is an example of one of our features on Wedding Chicks.
